"That's where Unicode comes in," Ms. Asadi explained. "Unicode is a more extensive encoding scheme that's compatible with ASCII but can represent characters from virtually all of the world's writing systems. "Exactly!" Eman said. "And if we want to convert from binary back to decimal, we just add up the values of all the positions that have a 1. So for 00101010, that's 32 + 8 + 2 = 42."

Negative Numbers

Ms. Asadi walked into the lab and smiled when she saw them working together.
